SMS Communications & Consent

How people opt in to text messages from Sidebar Benefit Advisors, what we send, and how to opt out at any time.

Who receives our text messages

Sidebar Benefit Advisors sends SMS text messages to two groups, and in both cases only after the recipient opts in:

  • Consumers who ask a licensed agent to follow up after submitting a request form on our website, and who check the optional text box on that form.
  • Licensed insurance agents on our platform who turn on operational alerts.

All of our messages are transactional or relationship-based. We do not send promotional blasts, and we do not buy or sell phone lists.

How consumers opt in

Opting in to texts is optional and never required. On the "Request a call from an agent" form at sidebarbenefits.com/callback, a consumer may check a single box that is unchecked by default. Submitting the form does not require the box; it controls SMS only. The checkbox reads:

“(Optional) Text me too. I agree to receive recurring automated text messages from Sidebar Benefit Advisors at the phone number above about my request and Medicare and related coverage. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for help.”

The opt-in, with a timestamp, is saved with the request. Consumers can stop at any time by replying STOP.

How agents opt in

Opting in is separate and optional, and is never required to use the platform:

  • In the agent portal, on the Profile page under "Lead Alerts," the agent checks a box to receive text alerts at the phone number on their profile. The default is email; text alerts are optional. The checkbox reads: “Text me new-lead alerts from Sidebar Health at the phone number on my profile. Consent is not required to use the platform. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.”
  • The opt-in, with a timestamp, is recorded on the agent's profile in our platform. Agents can turn it off at any time by unchecking the box or replying STOP.

What messages consumers receive

After opting in, a consumer may receive text messages that include:

  • Follow-ups about the call they requested with a licensed agent.
  • A plan summary link an agent has shared with them.

Sample message:

“Sidebar Benefit Advisors: Jane Doe (NPN 1234567) shared a Medicare plan with you. Plan: Humana Gold Plus HMO. https://sidebarbenefits.com/s/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out.”

What messages agents receive

After opting in, an agent may receive operational text messages that include:

  • New-lead alerts: a lead has been assigned to the agent, with a link to claim it.
  • License-renewal and credential reminders.
  • Account and compliance status updates.

Sample message:

“New Sidebar lead at Walgreens Tampa: a caller wants a call this afternoon. View & claim: https://sidebarhealth.com/agents/portal/callbacks/abc123 Reply STOP to opt out.”

Message frequency, carrier charges, and your phone plan

Message frequency varies with lead volume and platform activity. Most agents receive a handful of alerts per week. During Medicare Annual Enrollment (October 15 through December 7) and ACA Open Enrollment, frequency may increase.

Message and data rates may apply.Sidebar Health does not charge for the messages we send. Your wireless carrier's standard messaging rates apply. Contact your carrier if you have questions about your plan.

Opt out at any time — reply STOP

You can opt out of receiving SMS messages from us at any time. Reply STOP to any message you receive from us. You will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out, and we will not send you further SMS messages.

To resume messages after opting out, reply START, or re-check the "Lead Alerts" box on your profile.
