Our Commitment
Sidebar Benefit Advisors is committed to making health insurance accessible to everyone, including the older adults and people with disabilities our advisors serve every day. Many of the people who use this site are 65 or older or have low vision, hearing, or mobility needs. We design and build with that in mind, not as an afterthought.
Conformance Status
This site substantially conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. We test continuously against that standard and work to maintain and improve conformance as the site evolves.
What We Do
- A readable typeface for low vision. Our body text uses Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font designed by the Braille Institute to be easier to read for people with low vision.
- Large, legible text. No text renders below 14 pixels, body copy is 18 pixels, and every page works correctly at 200 percent browser zoom.
- Strong color contrast. Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast minimum of 4.5 to 1.
- Full keyboard access. Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator. Menus and dialogs trap focus and return it correctly when closed.
- Screen reader support. We use semantic HTML and landmark regions, a logical heading order, descriptive labels on every form field and control, and meaningful text alternatives for images.
- Clear forms and errors. Form errors appear as visible text, never by color alone, and focus moves to the first field that needs attention.
- Color is never the only signal. Status and meaning are always conveyed with text or icons in addition to color.
- English and Spanish. The site is available in both languages.
- Automated and manual testing. We run automated accessibility checks during development and review pages manually before release.
Known Limitations
Some third-party content and embedded tools may not yet fully meet our standard. We are actively identifying and addressing these areas, and an independent accessibility audit is part of our pre-launch plan.
