Comparing Medicare plans
The plan comparison tool at sidebarbenefits.com/compare-plans shows the Medicare plans available where you live, using official plan data published by CMS (the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services).
Searching for plans
- Enter your 5-digit ZIP code and select Search. If your ZIP code spans more than one county, you will be asked which county you live in, because plan availability is set by county.
- Choose a plan type tab: Medicare Advantage, Medigap (Medicare Supplement), or standalone Part D prescription drug plans.
- Optionally add your medications and doctors. Plans are then sorted by how well they match your drug coverage and provider needs, alongside star ratings.
Reading a plan card
- Each card shows the plan's monthly premium, deductible, and maximum out-of-pocket limit.
- Star ratings show CMS's overall quality rating for the plan, plus health and drug service ratings where available.
- Benefit indicators show extras such as dental, vision, hearing, over-the-counter allowance, fitness, telehealth, meals, and transportation.
Comparing side by side
- Select up to three plans using the checkboxes; a compare bar appears at the bottom of the page.
- Open the comparison to see full cost detail: copays for primary care and specialist visits, emergency and urgent care, hospital stays, and drug cost tiers.
- At any point you can choose "Talk to a licensed agent" to bring your ZIP code and shortlist into a free consultation.
Plan details come from official CMS published data and are refreshed regularly. Always confirm final benefit details with the plan before enrolling.
